Yoga Activist Collective-Explore the cyclic history of NOW, evolution of MIND and the YOGA of social CHANGE. Step toward a new paradigm of HUMANITY.
As long-term practitioners of yoga meditation, social service and self-realisation (known as Ananda Marga- Path of Bliss), our small Nelson-based team would like to offer an experiential workshop sharing a selection of yogic perspectives and practices which, when practiced on a regular basis, serve to foster an inner resourcefulness and resilience. These tools support people transitioning into a new way of living and interacting. These practices will include mantra-focused meditation and kiirtan (singing of devotional-mantra). We present a holistic perspective of what is happening on Earth currently by offering a spiritual, philosophical and practical framework which places current global events within a social cycle of evolution. We offer a lens to recognise the wave of history and provide a map for an enlightened future. Such perspectives and practices help a person to sustain a state of calm rationality, flexibility, a critical mind, and an overarching view of a larger societal picture; fundamentals required for navigating the rapidly changing social fabric and governance on Earth at this time.Rachel Zahner & Colette Steel-Develop your connection/trust with your intuition and be more empowered to make your own choices. have come to believe that the grace is in how I respond to the challenges and obstacles put in my path. Increasingly I realise that acknowledging those moments, witnessing them with attention, then marking them with ritual is necessary to enable me to witness my life and its place within the river of all things. I feel blessed and fortunate to have lived, to have followed my passions and instincts and to have been nudged back onto my path in this life when I moved away from pain or glory selfishly.
Looking back, searching for the patterns, a thread emerges from the apparent chaos, that is clear. Milestones. Born into peace in 1949 experiencing Rock and Roll protest, Vietnam and hippiedom. Then great loss so early moving naively into responsibility, a home, 'security'. Another loss. Pharmacist homeopathy, herbalism, nutrition, psychotherapist. Leaving my first house in Liverpool UK for ten years on the ocean, a cave and travels with a donkey before returning back for marriage and family. Then divorce and separation before moving to a smallholding on a Portuguese island. Renovation, working on and with the land before leaving comfort yet again to move to New Zealand living in community with a new love. Now we work together sharing our passion for community, belonging, resilience and love.
My personal work is attention to what is moving within me and aligning with the flow of Nature. Being.
Practical Collaboration Skills - The Big House Project --> Few of us were taught to collaborate, having lived all our lives in hierarchical organizations of one kind or another. In this session we learn a distilled package of practical group skills. This is a very hands on 2 hour session.
We will cover what is required to design group projects in order to have a firm foundation. We will learn the basics of conflict resolution, so that when the inevitable difference arises we can keep our relationships in tact. Conflict is not something we have to avoid but something we have to embrace and get better at. This allows us, together, to experiment, invent and transform our culture. And thirdly we will learn a simple effective method of group decision making. The coloured cards method comes from the cohousing world, and The Big House Project have used it extensively, after adopting the tool from Earthsong Eco-Neighbourhood.
One of our members was heavily involved in building Earthsong, and he offers a wealth of real life tips and lessons, learnt while making thousands of complex group decisions, often under time and financial pressures.
In the session we will actually practice the tools, as this is a powerful way to learn new skills, so that they become embodied and we can then draw on the skills as we take on courageous projects of change.
The session is led by Peter and Sibylle from The Big House Project. Peter has years of experience building communities, and Sibylle is a Kineseologist working primarily on the psycho-social nervous system.

Lily White & Ami Kennedy - Resilient garden activities from The Germinate Workbook with Permaculturalists Lily & Ami from The Germinate Collective.
Concern about food supply and the growing interest in gardening has spurred a new practical guide that is the antithesis of ‘coffee table’ books of glossy garden pictures. The Germinate Workbook is a simple, illustrated guide that aims to build up knowledge and skills around growing and preparing food, by helping beginner gardeners and facilitators of gardening groups. The workbook is the result of many years of collaboration between gardeners and educators Lily White and Ami Kennedy. The pair have worked for many years in edible garden education projects, based in Christchurch and Nelson respectively. Through this work they formed the not-for-profit organisation The Germinate Collective in 2014 and came to recognise the need for a simple, easy-to-use guide suited to their home regions or any similar temperate climate. Lily has seen a big surge in people who are really wanting to know about growing food – and wanting to make their gardening efficient and successful. "We went for a simple, paper-based resource that offers users something other than the internet or heavy text-based books, and worked with an illustrator to create a beautiful black and white, loose-leaf folder format that can be added to easily by users." "Gardeners can build their own knowledge around this resource and can add to it over the growing seasons." While many books focus on either gardening or cooking, this one combines both. The workbook starts with basic concepts like designing a garden from scratch using permaculture design practices. It’s laid out in four sessions per month based on the seasons. Each session has information, outdoor and indoor activities, handouts for learners, and recipes based on seasonal produce. There is also information on preserving and on extending the growing season. The Germinate Workbook aims to bring local communities of people together in group activities. Gardening with beginners is a special focus. The pair say many skills of the older generation have been lost, and they wanted to ensure that knowledge is passed on to generations who have missed out. The Germinate Workbook: Sowing the Seeds for Resilience - a growing guide for beginner gardeners & facilitators is available to purchase at Evolve Festival or by ordering via The Germinate Collective website.Glenn Baker-Zazzan - Finding balance & abundance in a polarised World. includes Breath & Sound journey.
/
Glenn the founder of Zazzan has been around various transcendental practices for two decades having had his curiosity sparked while working as an antiquities guide in Crete & Egypt during the early 90’s, in the 2000’s Glenn delved deeper into the mystery and paradox of life, from Sufi whirling to Native American Sundance and much more, learning via direct participation in a variety of indigenous practices. Further time spent living in Egypt & Atlantis (aka Cuba) rekindled his interest in an ancient ‘resonance’ device located within the largest Egyptian pyramid.
/
“I realised vibration was the source of time & space, the pulse of life. Our bodies are like musical instruments, tuned and interconnected to the ever present Now”.
/
Glenn found by keying our core frequency in particular ways participants can awaken innate gifts unto now dormant, such as; Astral travel, Inter-species communication, channelling, deja vu, synchronistic happenings, enhanced creativity, increased productivity, mood improvement & heightened awareness.
/
Lately Glenn has mixed Crypto into his experiences, recognising its potential as a physical tool to restore harmony & abundance between people.
/
For Evolve 2023, Zazzan are pleased to announce they will be bringing a copper replica of an ancient Egyptian acoustic chamber found in the Great Pyramid of Cheops, which will be available for sessions.

Gwyn Williams-Warrior spirit - monkey feet. Our spiritual alignment is paramount. Explore therapeutic movement with a focus of our legs.
Gwyn Williams is a movement based therapist that created Zenthai shiatsu over 20 years ago. On the surface, Zenthai is a fusion of Zen shiatsu, Thai massage and osteopathic technique, however beneath is an enriched conversation with an vibrant ever-changing life. The dissolving of division into unity continues to be his inspiration and the aspects of community, connection and contribution are at the core of the practice.
Whilst many have been touched by the therapist programs and the multi layered offerings , the art has evolved to now include a fluid movement based practice known as Zenthai flow.
For the past two decades Gwyn has inspired thousands of students throughout the world with his continually evolving form , which is based around Thich Knat Hahn’s “ When you touch something with awareness you touch everything “

Ananda-Learn a Zenthai Shiatsu massage guided flow, where you will give/ receive a treatment. Focus is on back and shoulders, meridians & anatomy
/
Ananda (Gareth Lamb) is a Zenthai Shiatsu practitioner and Zenthai Flow Yoga Teacher. With two decades of various yoga practices he believes that this modality with its focused intention, totality, heartfulness, and his ability to hold sacred space is where the healing takes place.
/
Join me in reconnecting the body, mind and spirit back to source thru the elements of nature, aligning the intention with the breath and movement to allow the transformation and freedom to unfold.
/
To start/warm up the workshop we will do some basic Zenthai Shiatsu yoga postures and run through the meridians, basic organs and some anatomy. During this workshop the festival punters will partner up on yoga mats and be guided by myself through a focused intention 90 minute sequence where I will demonstrate, then allow time for them to mirror as I gently guide the movements and connections, also supported by an assistant. The focus will be on 'hollow bamboo' where I will encourage them to be a portal for healing touch rather than the fixer. We will work with the basics of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the form of the meridians and the elements along with Zen Shiatsu acupressure points and techniques. This is a rare opportunity to learn how to safely use hands, feet, knees etc as part of the healing arts. Both partners will give and receive a treatment and have time towards the end to have a "play" with what we have just shared. This workshop is a fun and meaningful way to learn, share and connect with friends, partners and the community.

Deepening our Experience of Community - The Big House Projectt
An understanding of the social nervous system offers us a powerful new pathway to inform our collaboration initiatives, be that eco-villages, community gardens, food coops or whatever. An engaging 2 hour presentation, with some discussion and also practice. This presentation is pitched at folk who already have some experience with community. The question is why collaborate? If we consider the state of the world, and a pressing need for change, then one possible answer is that change requires collaboration, and collaboration in turn requires connection. But what happens when people actually do come together (and of necessity to interact), and friction comes up? What now? That friction could be seen as our calling to learn to work together, and to understand the nature of the barriers between us. And, that the capacity building that each of us is called to engage with, is an obvious building block to any real movement of change.
This simple model is one that activists and changemakers can make sense of, but it only gets us so far. If we were to go deeper into this, we might look at the neurobiological evidence that we as humans actually need connection for its own sake. Its part of the wiring of our mammalian DNA, and yet over the so called "century of the self" we seem to have forgotten this.
The question that this presentation tackles is what might a framework look like, that helps us navigate the needs of the individual, AND the need to connect, AND, in bigger terms our need to consciously engage with the process of our own evolution. This presentation offers a crash course in what Polyvagal Theory is, and how it can help us better navigate the path between our need for safety in groups, and our need to actually collaborate. There is some material about the art of relationships, some neuroscience, and a couple of experiential exercises.
The session is led by Peter and Sibylle from The Big House Project. Peter has years of experience building communities, and Sibylle is a Kineseologist working primarily on the psycho-social nervous system.

Suzanne Bereton- Create your SkyChart core to Navigate Life for the next 12 months, bringing into focus your desires & soul wisdom.
Hi, I’m Suzanne Brereton and I found hiding from life was easy. I could hide behind other people’s goals & desires, believing I was living my best life supporting others, not listening to my own. This led me to put on weight as I waited for my turn, waited for the right time, waited for someone to support me, waited for others to give me permission to live my life with purpose and intention. In doing this I realised that I was disempowered and disconnected from her own inner rhythm.
As a see-me-ologist, I have taken these situations, distilled the wisdom of past patterns & identified my inner rhythm. I can be unique in this world & belong. I no longer need to ignore parts of me to “fit in” with the crowd, which had the detrimental effect of making me sick or ill at ease physically, emotionally and mentally.
See-me bloom begins when we learn to connect to ourselves to hear our own inner tune. This is not, however, an easy task when there is so much noise around us to tune into. Disrupting the surrounding noise and busy-ness creates the space to listen to our soul wisdom, choose the aligned step that is intentional, purpose-Full and intelligently co-create a path to bring audacious goals into reality. I am learning to re-member my inner team & bring them together to guide me. My inner team of creative child, structured parent, nurturing feminine and protective masculine to drive me forward with a purpose to fulfil my desires knowing that I am safe when I listen to this inner team I co-create with.
