Katya Heeramaneck

Katya resides in Golden Bay, lives as sustainably as she can on an organic lifestyle property, works part time for Anahata Yoga Retreat and is the Founder of The Lotus Seed Collective, inspiring and promoting Wellness, Consciousness, Sustainability & Evolution in Golden Bay and beyond. She also has recently developed The Sanctuary, a place to seek refuge, heal and learn about whole-foods, organic gardening, yoga & more.

Katya is passionate about the well-being & healing of individuals which she believes is an intrinsic pathway to the healing of our planet. She inspires and aspires to awaken within herself and others the return to the Divine Feminine, living with the natural cycles & rhythms of the earth. A lover of rituals, she comes from the heart with full reverence and gratitude to the sacred-ness of life. Over the years, she has facilitated New Moon & Full Moon Circles for Women, Sacred Singing Circles and is training to be a Facilitator of Tides Rites of Passage for Young Women. She attributes her own journey of transformation to the practice of Yoga which has revealed the innate wisdom found within and what reconnects her to the source when she is out of alignment. When she is not barefoot tending to her garden, or in the kitchen preparing a magical high-vibing alive feast out of home-grown produce, you will find her singing kirtan, playing the harmonium or dancing.

Music & Dance are her great joys in life. As DJ Surya Masala, she has had the privilege of opening the Electronic Zone at Luminate Festival for many years, activating the space with her sacred Invocations, balancing the masculine & feminine energies, acting as a bridge and crossing the boundaries on the dancefloor with her unique fusion of styles. She has also played at Evolve Festival and at many other venues on New Zealands’ South Island.

In 2013, disillusioned from the dance party scene, Surya Masala took a shift in direction to produce and present her own Radio Show, Radio Om where she deepened her connection of her love of yoga and music, bringing them together through conscious music and the healing vibration of mantra combined with inspiring interviews and meditations.

Four years on and after a self-full musical hiatus and time to recalibrate, Surya Masala has metamorphosed again. Standing on the threshold of an exciting new portal, she is birthing her latest ventures designed to inspire, heal & awaken through the power of music, dance and yoga.
