Hunter de Luz (Karen Hunter) takes her audience on a sublime musical journey with evocative melodies that draw from a fusion of world music and rootsy grooves. Karen loops voice, guitar, mandolin & fiddle to create heart charged soundscapes blending her many influences in an entertaining and original fashion.
Hunter adds her unique artistic voice to the growing World music genre, creating live vocal loops fused with celtic tunes, reggae grooves and melodies in Spanish, Maori, Sanskrit and English.
Renown as a dynamic and engaging live act, Karen has opened for Ani Difranco, Tania Maria, Toni Childs, Richard Thompson, Blue House and Suzanne Vega as well as countless local New Zealand artists. She has played guitar, percussion and backing vocals as an accompanist for many artists including Matiu Te Huki, Redwood Reider, Kailash Kopele, Mama Yeva, Carlos Reigelhaupt and Kiwi icons Shona Laing and Dave McArtney .
