Karen Hunter takes her audience on a conscious journey through music with passionate lyrics and evocative melodies with soaring vocals. rootsy acoustic guitar, and recently celtic violin!
Being something of a musical chameleon has seen Karen evolve throughout her nine solo albums to date. While her origins could be described as ‘funky acoustic folk/rock’, her love of the process of song creation has led her to compose with a wide variety of colleagues which has her working in a rich tapestry of flavours including art rock, celtic, socio political folk, kirtan chanting, jazz and rootsy reggae.
2013 has been another year of travel and adventure for the bohemian traveler, with 5 months spent on the road in Europe with the Awakening Circus collective who have been exploring street performance, mask making, improvisational dance and collective songwriting. Awakening Circus have released several albums independently.
